These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Of course, I like raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, but the favorite things I want to talk about today are some of the most memorable pieces I have created over the years for clients. I put a little bit of myself into everything I sew, and I love to reflect back on how each piece is unique and brightened someone’s day.

Silent Auction Quilt
I am a big supporter of education, so I was thrilled to create a quilt for a silent auction at one of my community’s schools, Marshall Elementary School. The children at the school collaborated with me by hand drawing some of the quilt squares. It was such a fun experience seeing what creative ideas they came up with!

Retirement Gift
When the Athletic Director retired from Brentsville High School, I was pleased to help create a memorable sendoff. The quilt is adorned with the school mascot, the tiger, and contains hand-written goodbye notes from colleagues and friends. It was an honor to make a keepsake for this local school employee.

Wedding Keepsakes From a Tropical Cruise
I love to create keepsakes for special events like weddings. A particularly fun and creative bride and groom had their wedding on a cruise ship, and they wanted their guests and wedding party to have a reminder of their good times at sea. Together we came up with the idea of custom embroidered nautical-themed tote bags for their guests and wedding party. This was something cute and functional that guests could take home and use in their everyday lives.

Custom Switch Plates
Remember the fun you used to have as a kid putting a new poster up on your wall or painting your room a new color? I do, and I had just as much fun creating these custom switch plates for a couple of great kids. What better (and easier) way to customize your room than with a switch plate? It takes 2 seconds to swap out with a plain switch plate and just gives the room a little extra pizazz. If your kids are into Spiderman, ballet or just about anything else they can imagine, I can do a custom switch plate for a fun little addition to their décor.

Personalized Mug Rugs
Every year in May, I take a trip with a great group of ladies. We just celebrated our 20th year of taking this annual trip! In honor of the occasion, I created personalized mug rugs (think fancy quilted coasters) for each of these ladies. It’s a great gift to customize and something they can use on a daily basis. They were a big hit. I’ve also made mug rugs personalized for students at several local schools. We’ve added their school mascots and names along with their name or initials. It’s a really fun graduation gift and great for students to keep in their dorm rooms (as a little reminder from mom to use a coaster once they leave the nest).

Do you have something you would like see brought to life with needle and thread? I would love to work with you to create a piece that will last a lifetime! Contact me and let’s talk!
